We will tell you about the most common dream.
What can falling down in a dream mean?
Have you ever dreamed as if you were falling from a height and waking up scared before you approached the ground? This feeling is well known to most people and the scenario is the most common among unpleasant dreams.
What happens in the body at this time?
Since the dream is still considered to be one of the most unexplained phenomena, scientists can not agree on one specific answer, several possible factors emerge.
According to one theory, dreams are a reflection of our mood, therefore, falling from a height can be considered a symbol of helplessness, hopelessness or rejection.
You may have a similar dream because at a particular moment you are upset by the following:
- You suffer from feelings of instability;
- You are worried;
- You have difficulty controlling;
- You are stunned;
- You depend on others and more.
Remember, in some cases nightmares are a sign of post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and sleep disturbance.
Some scientists do not rule out that the feeling of falling down while asleep may even be a warning from the brain - for example, it is quite possible that you are sleeping near the edge of the bed.
The bedtime tumbling sensation is the phenomenon known as the “hypnic jerk” and may sometimes be accompanied by a visual hallucination. You may have heard it called a “sleep start”, the “hypnagogic jerk” or the “myoclonic jerk”, but for the sake of sanity we’ll just stick with the former.
If you are disturbed by this unpleasant feeling during restful sleep, it is recommended:
- Cut back on caffeine.
- Before going to bed, avoid different types of activities late in the evening, relax your body as much as possible;
- Avoid emotionally stressful or physically strenuous activities in the hour before going to sleep.
