Why doesn't a scab heal?

Why doesn't a scab heal?

The body protects the wound on the skin with a scab.

The scab stops bleeding and acts as a kind of cover, that is, it does not allow bacteria and microbes to penetrate the wound.

Due to certain conditions and factors, the healing process of a scabbed wound may take longer:

• The wound is large;
• Infection;
• You are a tobacco user;
• Poorly controlled diabetes;
• Weak immunity;
• Older age;
• Some medications (some medications slow down the healing process).

Immediately contact the clinic if you have the following symptoms:

• Signs of infection;
• Thickening, blackening of the wound edges;
• Bleeding from the damaged area does not stop even after 10 minutes, you cannot stop the blood with direct and strong pressure;
• You feel pain in the injured area and the discomfort does not go away despite taking painkillers;
• The wound opened soon after the stitches were applied.
