What symptoms occur during an allergy to a bite?
In general, insect bites cause the following types of discomfort:
• The skin at the bite site appears to be raised, may be red;
• Itching and irritation of the skin;
• Mild swelling;
• Pain.
There is a high chance that an insect will bite you if your hobby or professional activity is:
• You spend a lot of time in the forest or grassy area;
• You live near a lake, river, pond, or swamp;
• You work on a farm or have regular contact with animals;
• You are a gardener or beekeeper.
You have an allergic reaction to an insect bite if you have the following symptoms:
• Dizziness or a feeling of a pounding heart;
• Rapid pulse;
• Allergic rash;
• Muscle spasms;
• Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea;
• Seizures;
• Swelling in the bite area;
• Swelling of the throat or tongue;
• Difficulty swallowing or breathing.
All of these symptoms are serious and require immediate medical attention.
Statistically, an allergic reaction occurs within 15 minutes of a bite, but you may feel discomfort up to 6 hours later.
A more severe reaction develops immediately!
Keep in mind that if you have previously had a mild allergy to an insect bite, you will likely have a severe reaction in the future, so follow your doctor's instructions.
