Hyperthermia - overheating of the body

What is hyperthermia?

Hyperthermia is a heat-related illness. The conditions in this group have one main symptom - a person has a pathologically high body temperature (40 degrees Celsius and above).

The reason for the development of hyperthermia is that the body's heat regulation system malfunctions due to environmental/external factors, which causes an increase in the body's internal temperature.

Symptoms are individual and depend on the stage of hyperthermia or the level of overheating of the body.

Heat stroke is a dangerous condition that can provoke serious complications. That is why the patient should be hospitalized immediately.

Call emergency medical help if you have the following symptoms:

• High fever;
• Rapid pulse;
• Reddened skin that is hot to the touch;
• Dizziness or nausea;
• Headache;
• Confusion;
• Feeling of fainting or loss of consciousness.

If you experience heat exhaustion, stop any activity immediately, move to a cool, shaded area, drink water, remove excess clothing, and lie down. If your condition does not improve within 1 hour, call an ambulance.
