Skin Inflammation

Skin Inflammation

The immune system keeps the body healthy.

The immune system detects and neutralizes foreign bodies that have invaded the body, such as infectious microbes and tumor cells.

Like any other area of the body, the skin can be involved in an immune response.

During an inflammatory skin process, the following symptoms may occur:

  • Rash;
  • Peeling skin;
  • Itching, burning sensation of the skin;
  • Some bumps on the skin;
  • Redness of the skin;
  • Warmth in the affected area;
  • Bruises or discoloration;
  • Thickening of the skin;
  • Bleeding from broken skin areas.

Potential causes of skin inflammation include:

  • Immune system dysfunction;
  • Allergic reaction;
  • Bacterial, viral, or fungal infection;
  • Photosensitivity;
  • Fever.

A type of skin inflammation such as eczema can develop due to a number of factors, including:

  • Genetics;
  • Immune dysfunction;
  • Bacteria on the skin.
