Which organs are vital?

Interesting information about organs and organ systems.

A vital organ means that a person needs it for existence. If any of these organs have a problem, a life-threatening condition will develop.

These organs are vital:

  • Brain;
  • Heart;
  • Lungs;
  • Liver;
  • Kidneys.

The following organs are not vital:

  • Gallbladder;
  • Pancreas;
  • Stomach;
  • Colon;
  • Appendix.

However, this does not mean that these organs do not perform an important function - with many infections and cancers, there is a risk of life-threatening complications due to delayed or improper treatment.

The following organ systems are spread throughout the body:

  • Nervous system;
  • Reproductive system;
  • Respiratory system;
  • Urinary system;
  • Lymphatic system;
  • Musculoskeletal system;
  • Endocrine system;
  • Immune system;
  • Digestive system;
  • Circulatory system.
