What is Ewing sarcoma?

Ewing sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissues around the bone. It can occur at any age, but is most often diagnosed in children and young adults.

In a large percentage of clinical cases, it develops in the bones of the legs and pelvis - rarely in the soft tissues of the chest, abdomen, arm and other parts of the body.

Young's sarcoma that develops in the bone manifests the following symptoms:

  • Swelling, hardness in the arm, leg, chest, pelvis;
  • Bone pain;
  • Bone fracture;
  • Pain, increased sensitivity, swelling in the affected area.

Sometimes, Ewing sarcoma causes symptoms that affect the entire body, such as:

  • Fever;
  • Unexplained weight loss;
  • Fatigue.

Scientists do not know the exact cause of this type of cancer.

In a large percentage of clinical cases, the course of treatment includes chemotherapy and surgery. Radiation therapy and targeted therapy may also be necessary.
