Anovulation is a common cause of infertility.
This diagnosis means that your body is not releasing an egg or ovulation is not occurring. It is usually caused by a hormonal imbalance, and the main symptom is irregular vaginal bleeding.
When ovulation is interrupted, the doctor will prescribe medication to regulate hormones and encourage the patient to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Anovulation can occur in any woman of reproductive age.
Risk factors include:
- Perimenopause;
- Primary ovarian failure;
- Polycystic ovary syndrome;
- A body mass index lower than recommended;
- You have recently started menstruating.
Anovulation is a common condition and is the cause of 30% of clinical cases of infertility.
The following symptoms may accompany cessation of ovulation:
- Irregular menstruation;
- You have either very heavy or light bleeding (blood volume) during your cycle;
- You no longer have a period and you are not pregnant;
- The discharge before and during ovulation does not have an egg white-like appearance;
- Irregular basal temperature.
