Anovulation

Anovulation

Anovulation is a common cause of infertility.

This diagnosis means that your body is not releasing an egg or ovulation is not occurring. It is usually caused by a hormonal imbalance, and the main symptom is irregular vaginal bleeding.

When ovulation is interrupted, the doctor will prescribe medication to regulate hormones and encourage the patient to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Anovulation can occur in any woman of reproductive age.

Risk factors include:

  • Perimenopause;
  • Primary ovarian failure;
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome;
  • A body mass index lower than recommended;
  • You have recently started menstruating.

Anovulation is a common condition and is the cause of 30% of clinical cases of infertility.

The following symptoms may accompany cessation of ovulation:

  • Irregular menstruation;
  • You have either very heavy or light bleeding (blood volume) during your cycle;
  • You no longer have a period and you are not pregnant;
  • The discharge before and during ovulation does not have an egg white-like appearance;
  • Irregular basal temperature.
