Pallor

Pallor as a symptom.

Pallor means that the skin or mucous membranes have become paler, paler. As a rule, this symptom is temporary and resolves with treatment of the underlying cause.

Characteristic:

  • Skin that is grayish or lighter in color than your normal skin tone;
  • Pale mucous membranes.

If the pallor of the skin is caused by a disease, you will also experience other symptoms, including:

  • Chest pain;
  • Rapid heartbeat;
  • Feeling of shortness of breath;
  • Sweaty or clammy skin;
  • Dizziness;
  • Fatigue.

Causes include:

  • Emotional reaction to fear or shock;
  • Side effects of medication;
  • Any illness.

Paleness can be a sign of the following conditions:

  • Anemia;
  • Clogged arteries, circulatory problems;
  • Respiratory problems;
  • Poor nutrition;
  • Blood loss due to injury;
  • Low blood sugar;
  • Chronic infection;
  • Some types of cancer;
  • Vitamin deficiency in the body;
  • Frostbite;
  • Heat exhaustion (hot weather, high air temperature).
