Emergency - emergency assistance

What is the function of the emergency department of the clinic?

One of the important services of multidisciplinary clinics is primary care - the emergency department receives patients who need urgent, emergency treatment. In this department, sometimes every minute is crucial - quick response is required to diagnose and manage critical situations.

Emergency departments are equipped with all instrumental and laboratory services (laboratory, radiology, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, etc.) necessary for initial clinical diagnosis and symptom management.

The patient should be admitted to the emergency department in the following situations:

  • Heart attack;
  • Stroke;
  • High fever;
  • Shortness of breath;
  • An infant under 3 months of age has a fever or other unusual symptoms;
  • Car accident;
  • A wound caused by a cold weapon or firearm;
  • Heavy bleeding that does not stop;
  • It seems to you that you might hurt yourself, life-threatening thoughts;
  • Fall down;
  • Localized abdominal pain;
  • Bleeding or trauma during pregnancy and others.

Note that the symptoms and causes presented in the article are not an exclusive list, i.e. the emergency department also manages many other pathologies, emergency physicians treat many more/different complaints. That is why, in case of any unusual symptoms that suddenly appear or develop due to certain reasons, go to the clinic (both on your own and with emergency help).
