Is it possible to prevent hormonal acne?

Hormonal acne is also known as adult acne.

It mainly appears in people aged 20 to 50 years - the rash spreads to the face, shoulder, chest and back.

It is formed as a result of excess fat in the sebaceous glands.

Patients are both women and men, although statistically women are diagnosed more often. Acne is the most common skin condition in the US - hormonal acne affects about 80%. 50% of women in their 20s and 30s and 25% of women in their 40s and 50s have hormonal acne.

Risk factors are:

  • Stress;
  • Insomnia;
  • You use hair and skin care products that contain fat (non-comedogenic).

The causes are:

  • Hormonal changes;
  • Current testosterone treatment;
  • Genetic disposition (family anamnesis of acne disease);
  • Side effects of some medications;
  • Metabolic disorders;
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome;
  • Other ovarian pathologies.

Prevention

It is impossible to completely prevent hormonal acne, however, you can reduce the risk of spreading and aggravating the rash with certain methods.

Recommended:

  • Avoid stressful factors as much as possible;
  • Eat healthy products;
  • Sleep peacefully at night;
  • Buy skin care products that do not clog pores;
  • Do not discharge the pimple;
  • If acne takes a chronic form, consult a dermatologist.
