When is runny nose dangerous - if you know this condition, be sure to consult a doctor

A runny nose is a common symptom.

Runny nose (rhinorrhea, discharge from the nose) occurs due to allergies and viral infections.

As a rule, measles disappears on its own, but with a course of treatment, the symptom is much easier to manage and the general condition improves relatively quickly.

It takes time for the symptom to clear up - there is no method that will make your runny nose go away immediately. In the case of a viral infection, the discharge from the nose lasts for 10-14 days, and in the case of an allergic background, until you are in contact with the allergen.

Along with the common cold, it is quite expected that you will suffer from the following symptoms:

  • Stuffy nose
  • Tearing or itching in the eye area;
  • Sneezing.

In some clinical cases, the diagnosis is chronic cold.

A seemingly harmless symptom, which only causes discomfort, sometimes worsens so much that it becomes necessary to involve a doctor.

Consult a doctor if:

  • Measles has been bothering you for more than 3 weeks or this symptom is accompanied by fever;
  • The discharge has an unpleasant smell;
  • Notice blood in the discharge;
  • You have discharge from only one nostril;
  • You have difficulty breathing;
  • Swelling in the forehead, eyes, nose or cheeks;
  • Blurred vision;
  • You started having a runny nose after a head injury.
