Abdominal spasm

Abdominal spasm

What causes abdominal pain?

Abdominal spasm is a sudden, uncontrolled, uncomfortable and painful condition that the patient feels in the abdominal muscle area.

In a large percentage of clinical cases, this complaint is not serious - mild abdominal spasm does not require specific treatment. However, if this symptom bothers you often, is expressed acutely and does not go away for more than a day, contact the clinic immediately.

Abdominal spasm, in itself, is associated with problems or diseases of the organs located in the abdominal cavity. Various organs are placed in the abdominal cavity, therefore, the diagnosis and treatment methods are individual, depending on the complaint and reasons.

The cause may be:

  • Food poisoning;
  • Food allergy;
  • Food intolerance;
  • Infection;
  • Abdominal growths;
  • Inflammation;
  • Small or large bowel obstruction;
  • Constipation;
  • Irritable bowel syndrome;
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Anal fistula;
  • Diverticular disease;
  • Ulcerative colitis;
  • Polyps.
