If you complain of ringing in your ears.
Tinnitus is a sensation of noise in the ears. Patients describe this condition with different words, for example, for some it is a ringing or rattling sound, for others it is a tingling sensation, and so on.
It is a very common complaint and in a large percentage of clinical cases it is a symptom of some condition/pathological process. In most cases, tinnitus is not a sign of any serious disease, and in the background of diagnosis, as a result of management of the underlying cause, the patient's quality of life improves significantly.
Diagnosis
Of course, tinnitus is usually suspected when the patient describes discomfort. It is advisable to provide accurate information to the doctor, i.e. what sound you hear in your ear. After collecting the symptoms, the doctor will study the patient's family history, examine the ear, head and neck area.
Blood tests, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are recommended.
Treatment
As already mentioned, the course of treatment depends on the underlying cause. Tinnitus will be relieved if you treat the pathology that causes this symptom.
For example:
- Ear sulfur removal;
- Management of any vascular disease;
- Selection of ear hearing aid (if hearing loss is diagnosed);
- There may be a side effect of any medication, therefore, the doctor will select a medication that will not cause this symptom.
