Migraine symptoms

Which symptom should you pay attention to?

Migraine is a chronically recurring neurological disease, the main symptom of which is severe headache. The patient complains of pulsating, exploding, severe pain in one or both areas of the head.

An episode of a migraine attack may last for several hours or even a whole day. Unfortunately, the pain is so severe that it is difficult for a person to perform daily activities.

For information, in some clinical cases, a kind of aura period is formed before a migraine attack (it is a warning symptom).

Neurologists distinguish 4 stages of migraine, namely:

  •  Prodrome (prodromal period);
  •  Aura;
  •  Headache;
  •  Postdrome.

It is noteworthy that not all people develop all four, that is, all stages.

Symptoms of migraine (migraine with headache) are:

  •  Severe headache;
  •  Increased sensitivity to light, sound, smell;
  •  Nausea and vomiting, gastrointestinal problems, abdominal pain;
  •  Lack of appetite, loss of appetite:
  •  Sweating (feeling very warm) or, on the contrary, chills (the patient feels cold);
  •  Pale skin;
  •  Fatigue;
  •  Dizziness and blurred vision;
  •  Tender scalp;
  •  Diarrhea (rarely);
  •  Fever (rarely).

During other stages of migraine, additional symptoms appear, for example:

  •  Irritation;
  •  Problems related to sleep;
  •  Frequent urination;
  •  Numbness;
  •  Weakness in one part of the body;
  •  Neck pain;
  •  Problems related to concentration and others.
